Inclusion Criteria:

* patients with clinical diagnosis of retinal detachment (RD)
* planned for pars plana vitrectomy with silicon oil tamponade

Exclusion Criteria:

* previous intraocular surgery
* failed optical biometry acquisition
* recurrent RD
* combined scleral buckle surgery
